Lavender-pink (rosy purple), 1.5" long, 2.5" broad; mid to late May

Fruit Details:
Capsule, dehiscent, 5-valved

Fall Color:
Evergreen

Bark Details:
Stem yellowish green on new growth changing to brown with age

Disease / Insect Problems or Resistance:
Botryosphaeria canker, crown rot, dieback, dampening-off, leaf spots, leaf scorch, powdery mildew, rust, shoot blight, shoestring root rot, wilt, aphid, lace bug.

Native Habitat:
Alleghenies, West Virginia, southwest to Georgia and Alabama, 1809

Other Features:
Withstands temperature extremes without injury, excellent heat tolerance.

Culture and Care:
Needs good drainage, light shade, sensitivity to salinity, high pH, and winter injury, Zone 4 to 8
