bacterial blight, phytopthora blight, leaf blights and spots, powdery mildew, wilt and other pathological problems; also borers, miners and scales

North China introduced 1886

Other Features:
More informal habit than S. reticulata

Culture and Care:
easy to transplant; loose, well drained, slightly acid soil; full sun for best flowering
