Cones are solitary or 3-whorled, ovoid, 4-5" long, yellow-brown with a short, acute umbo. Cones are listed a purple-blue in youth.

Fall Color:
Lustrous dark green, dentate with stomatal lines on all surfaces

Bark Details:
Ash gray bark, the fissures exposing yellow-gray patches

Disease / Insect Problems or Resistance:
Reported as resistant to Diplodia blight and salt tolerant

var. leucodermis is slower growing and has smoother, more whitish bark than the species.
