Cultural Details for Populus x canescens 'Tower'

Tower Poplar

Flower Details:
Slender drooping catkin, up to 4" long: mid to late April before leaves emerge.

Fruit Details:
0.12" yellow-green capsules drooping catkin-like clusters releasing white cottony seeds in late May-mid June.

Fall Color:
Yellow

Bark Details:
Ash-grey, thick, flattened or rounded ridges separated by deep fissures.

Disease / Insect Problems or Resistance:
None serious.

Native Habitat:
North America, Europe, North Africa, Asia south to Himalayas.

Other Features:
Important sources of pulpwood and wood products.

Culture and Care:
Easily transplanted. Prefers moist soil but will tolerate dry soil.
