  • Cryptomeria japonica 'Yoshino' // Yoshino Japanese Cryptomeria; Japanese Cedar
    Tree. Grows to 30-40' tall and 20-30' wide. Fast growth rate. Flowers are monoecious and inconspicuous. Fruits are cones, terminal and globular, 0.5-1" wide, dark brown, composed of 20-30 scales, each scale with 3-5 seeds. Turns slightly bronze-green in fall. Reddish-brown bark, peeling off in long strips. Easy to grow, prefers a rich and deep, light, permeable, acid soil with abundant moisture. Plant in an open, sunny location that is sheltered from high winds. Susceptible to leaf blight, leaf spot, and tip dieback. Native to China and Japan.
