  • Magnolia x acuminata 'Elizabeth' // Elizabeth Magnolia
    Tree. Grows to 30-50' tall and 20-35' wide. Extremely vigorous growth rate. Rich primrose to butter yellow flowers depending on location and conditions, with light green shades on the exterior towards the bottom of the calyxes. Heat reduces the intensity of yellow flowers to cream. Yellow fall color. Scale can be problematic. Hybrid of M. acuminata x M. denudata. This was the first yellow-flowering magnolia hybrid introduced, in the 1950s, at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in New York City. Use as a specimen tree.

  • Magnolia x acuminata 'Gold Star' // Gold Star Magnolia
    Tree. Grows to 20-25’ tall 15-20’ wide, multistemmed habit. Medium to fast growth rate, 10-15' over 4-6 years. Star shaped flowers, light, creamy yellow, with 14 narrow tepals, open before the foliage. Fruits are aggregates of follicles. Young leaves start out a beautiful bronze-red and turn green as they mature. Yellow-brown fall color. Bronze bark on new growth, with age becoming furrowed with gray ridges. Plant in early spring into loamy, deep, moist, well-drained, slightly acid soil. Full sun or partial shade. Basically free of disease problems. A cross of M. acuminata var. subcordata ‘Miss Honeybee’ x M. stellata.
