Flower - Monoecious, small, bright yellow-green (tinged with red) and not showy, appear in early to mid-spring.
Fruit - Multiple, tan brown, globular horny woody ball, 1-1.5" in diameter. The capsules within the ball contain 2 seeds each.
Leaf -
Fall Color - Rich yellow-purple- red
Bark - Grayish brown, deeply furrowed into narrow, rounded ridges
Other Features - Excellent lawn, park or street tree, needs large area for root development as they will lift sidewalks or interfere with mowing
