Fruit - Cones are solitary or 3-whorled, ovoid, 4-5" long, yellow-brown with a short, acute umbo. Cones are listed a purple-blue in youth.
Leaf -
Fall Color - Lustrous dark green, dentate with stomatal lines on all surfaces
Bark - Ash gray bark, the fissures exposing yellow-gray patches
Other Features - var. leucodermis is slower growing and has smoother, more whitish bark than the species.
