Ornamental Characteristics:
Flower - Slender drooping catkin, up to 4" long: mid to late April before leaves emerge.
Fruit - 0.12" yellow-green capsules drooping catkin-like clusters releasing white cottony seeds in late May-mid June.

Bark - Ash-grey, thick, flattened or rounded ridges separated by deep fissures.
