Ornamental Characteristics:
Flower - Perfect, 0.25" wide, pink, slightly fragrant, bell-shaped. May-June
Fruit - Dry drupe, ovoid, 0.5" long, grayish in color and somewhat attractive; effective in August and falling by November; containing a single shiny brown hard seed.
Leaf - Alternate, medium to dark green above, glabrous, with axillary tufts below. Medium-fine. Leaves hold late and are often killed by an early freeze.
Fall Color - Yellowish or reddish.
Bark - Gray-brown smooth consistency but showing irregular, orangish brown and interlacing fissures.
Other Features - Dainty, excellent addition to winter landscape. Small, low-branched tree which develops a rounded to broad-rounded crown and a distinct horizontal appearance because of the wide-spreading branches.
Possible Use - A handsome tree. Use near the patio, in the lawn, in the shrub border, or on hillsides.

Care Requirements - Transplant balled and burlapped into acidic, moist soil in early sping. Prune in late winter. Zone 5-8, best in Zone 7-8.
