Ornamental Characteristics:
Flower - White, fragrant. May-June.
Fruit - 0.75" long, ovoid, dry.
Leaf - Alternate, simple. Dark green, and quite large.
Fall Color - Does not develop a good fall color.
Bark - Smooth, gray to gray-brown, marked with shallow, vertical fissures.
Other Features - Small tree or shrub which develops dense, ascending branches. Pyramidal-oval in youth but becomes more open and rounded with age. Smooth gray twisty branches are handsome for winter effect.
