Longevity - Broad pyramid, branches spreading, branchlets broadly frond-like, tops decurving, rich golden yellow, changing to green within plant, yellowish at ends of sprays, large tree.

Ornamental Characteristics:
Flower - Monoecious: staminate-yellow, pistillate-solitary.
Fruit - Cones short-staked, solitary, globose, 0.33" across, 8 orange-brown scales, depressed on the back and with a small point; 2-5 seeds on each scale, narrow membranous wings.
Leaf - The outer, open fans of 'Aurea' are golden yellow while the interior is darker green.
Fall Color - Evergreen
Bark - Reddish-brown, shed in long narrow strips.
Other Features - 'Aurea' is a golden, standard-sized Hinoki cypress, and one of the oldest cultivars still in the trade,

Care Requirements - Container grown plants are easier to transplant. Prefers a moist, well-drained, neutral, soil and a moderately humid atmosphere in a sunny, protected from wind area.
