Join with professionals and concerned citizens who work on, and care about, the issue of invasive species in the lower Midwest. Strengthen your awareness of invasive species issues and learn innovative and practical solutions for prevention and management.

Presentations, Field Trips, and Workshops

This in-person conference will include one full day of presentations (Thursday, March 20) with multiple session tracks, as well as an optional half day of field trips (afternoon of Wednesday, March 19). A reception/ exhibits/ poster presentation session on Wednesday as well as lunch and breaks with exhibitors on Thursday will provide ample opportunities for attendees to network with colleagues and experts.

Keynote Speaker: ​​Dr. Daniel Simberloff, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, whose research focuses on issues related to ecological community composition and structure and invasion biology.

Presentation Tracks: Three periods of break-out sessions in separate rooms focused on the following tracks: "Early Detection & Innovations", "Forest Health", "Control & Management", "Aquatic Invasives, and "Collaborating For Success!" Each break-out session track will feature 4 to 5 rapid fire presentations by people involved in the research, front-line work, or advocacy aspects of invasive species management.

Field Trips & Workshops: For the afternoon of March 19, attendees can sign up for ONE of the optional field trips or workshops. (Yes, they will be happening simultaneously so you'll have to choose just one.) Field trip destinations: the Ohio River Oxbow Wetland, Fernald Preserve, Boone County Arboretum, green infrastructure sites of Rapid Run Bioswale and Lick Run Greenway, combined tours of Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden and Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum. In-depth workshops: workshop 1 = invasive grass identification, workshop 2 = Herbicide preparation and application techniques, introduction to EDDMapS (Early Detection and Distribution Mapping System).
