Spring Tea Table

With an informative presentation and delicious luncheon, the Spring Tea is one of our most anticipated events of the year and often sells out quickly. Registration opens at 8:30 am on February 3, 2025. Be sure to come back to this page on that day and register!

Pull away from the hectic pace of everyday life and the cold of winter to join Friends of Boone County Arboretum in welcoming the arrival of spring! Christopher Kline, Director of the Butterfly Ridge Butterfly Conservation Center in Ohio, will share his stories and expertise from nearly 30 years of butterfly research and habitat development. (A more in-depth biography is below.) A delightful menu of both savory and sweet items will be served on beautiful tables, each having its own unique spring-themed decoration. Around the perimeter of the room will be an expansive silent auction, including items such as spring decor, household necessities, adventure packages, and of course, teapots.

Sponsorship opportunities available.

This is a great way to get your company name in front of a captive audience of potential customers, and even directly network with them if you can attend yourself. Contact us for more information.

Proceeds benefit the Friends of Boone County Arboretum organization, which provides support for the Arboretum's growth and educational outreach programs, including the Arboretum On Wheels.

The entire event committee, from food preparers to table hosts and auction coordinators, is excited and looking forward to seeing our guests once again!

Registration Opens Monday, February 3, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.

This event always sells out quickly, be sure to set a reminder on your calendar. $65 general admission, $55 for members of Friends of Boone County Arboretum. (Not a member? Join here.) Registration will be online only, through this webpage. No mail-ins, checks or cash. Cancellation policy is below.

It is possible for a group coordinator to register multiple people in one transaction, but each person will need to be entered individually on separate pages of the form. Please know and have ready the full contact info (address, email, phone) for each person in your group rather than entering your info under someone else's name (that creates chaos in our records).

Christopher Kline

About Christopher Kline

Chris began tagging Monarch butterflies in 1997, founding the Southwest Monarch Study and co-founding the Central Arizona Butterfly Association. Upon moving back to his Ohio family roots, he served as the Butterfly Specialist at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus, Ohio.

In 2014 Chris and his wife, Kris, began a project on their farm in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio, converting 21 acres into butterfly friendly habitats. This property, which has been in Chris’ family since 1863, opened to the public (seasonally) in 2017 as Butterfly Ridge Butterfly Conservation Center. The gardens and nature areas they created are focused on the health and well-being of butterflies native to southeastern Ohio. They teach the visiting public about these butterflies, moths, and other pollinators, encouraging the creation of similar butterfly habitats in locations far and wide. Their efforts have resulted in more than quadrupling the local butterfly population.

Chris is also an author of several books on the topic of Butterflies. One of them for example, “Butterfly Gardening with Native Plants” covers gardening basics, designs, common butterflies and the host plants needed to attract them. It includes detailed illustrations, photographs, and timelines to aid in plant selection, butterfly sightings and identification.

Volunteers Needed!

The number of tickets we can make available heavily depends on having a large number of dedicated people (at least 30!) willing and able to help us, some starting months before the event, others during the event itself. Each elegant table is designed, decorated, set and hosted by a volunteer dedicated to that specific table. All the decadent food for a multi-course meal is prepared and served by volunteers. The silent auction items are gathered and assembled into baskets by volunteers. The entire room will be set up, decorated, and disassembled again by volunteers. Please contact Tiago if you are interested in joining our team.

Registrants who suddenly can't attend themselves, whether because of COVID infection or other reason, can send someone in their place, but, consistent with our other events, there is a no refund policy for individual situations (the event payment becomes a donation).
