JULY 2026 DETOUR:
For guests coming from areas north or north-east of BCA, beginning July 6, 2026 the intersection of Camp Ernst Road and Longbranch Road will be closed while a roundabout is being constructed. We recommend completely avoiding that intersection through the duration of the project, anticipated to be done by early August.
The construction project phases will allow certain turns through the intersection to open on certain weeks, so GPS maps might be getting incorrect or incomplete data and routing people incorrectly. Visitors from out of town will have the easiest navigation experience by just considering the intersection fully closed and avoiding it completely using the instructions below. Directions
From the North East (Ohio):
(This route is not impacted by the July 2026 Detour)
- Exit Southbound I-71/75 at Mount Zion Rd., Exit # 178.
- At end of ramp turn right, and drive west on Mt. Zion Road for 2.8 miles, going straight through the first roundabout, and crossing US HWY 42.
- At the second roundabout, go straight through (crossing "Old Union Road") and continue west on Hathaway Road for another 2.5 miles.
- Turn right onto Camp Ernst Road and drive 1.1 miles to Arboretum entrance on right. (When you turn onto Camp Ernst Road you'll see but can ignore the road closed sign, as you will arrive at the Arboretum before the closure point.)
From the North West (Indiana):
THESE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDE THE JULY 2026 DETOUR:
- Exit Eastbound I-275 at Hebron Exit # 6.
- Turn right at end of ramp, and drive south on North Bend Road (KY-237) for 4.2 miles
- Cross Burlington Pike (KY-18) and continue south on Camp Ernst Road (KY-237) for 1.6 miles.
- At the roundabout, take the SECOND exit, onto KY-237 / Pleasant Valley Road (DO NOT take the first exit onto Camp Ernst Road, it is closed to thru-traffic).
- Continue down Pleasant Valley Road 3.1 miles to US-42 / US-127.
- Turn right onto US-42 and continue 2.4 miles to Mt. Zion Road.
- Turn right onto Mt. Zion Road, go straight through the roundabout (crossing "Old Union Road") and continue west on Hathaway Road 2.5 miles.
- Turn right onto Camp Ernst Road and drive 1.1 miles to Arboretum entrance on right. (When you turn onto Camp Ernst Road you'll see but can ignore the road closed sign, as you will arrive at the Arboretum before the closure point.)
From the South (Kentucky):

NOTE: many Internet maps and navigation systems will direct you to use I-71/75 exit # 175. We do not recommend this route. Instead:
- Exit Northbound I-71/75 at Mount Zion Rd., Exit # 178.
