native Manchuria and Korea, Cultivated 1903.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are composed of reddish purple sepals and creamy petals, usually opening before the leaves. Fruits are winged samaras, 1-1.25" long, divergent, brown to purple.
Leaf and Bark Features
Leaves 9-11 lobed, 4-6" across, doubly-serrate lobes, lustrous dark green above, pubescent beneath; petiole-1-2" long. Fall color is a mix of bright yellows, oranges, and reds.

Zones 4-7.
