Average mature size of 15-35' tall and 15-20' wide. Slow growth rate, 12" or less per year.
Native Range
Japan, intoduced in 1879.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are pale green, 3" long erect racemes, in May. Fruits are winged samaras, 0.75" long, covered with reddish-brown pubescence.
Leaf and Bark Features
Yellow-orange to red fall color. Bark is green with stripes when young, as it matures the green changes to red.
Culture and Care
Grows from seed, transplants readily. Can grow in full sun, but best in partial shade and moist soil. Zones 5-7.

Described as the most common of the snakebarks in cultivation.
