Mature Size, Growth, Longevity
Average mature size of 26-33' tall, occasionally to 50' tall. The open canopy of this multistemmed tree broadens at the top.
Native Range
From the Himalayas to central China (Hubei, Gansu, Shaanxi provinces), southeastern Tibet, in mountain forests to an altitude of 1000m.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are yellow, insignificant, in the spring. Fruits are winged samaras, spreading erectly, rarely obtusely or acutely.
Leaf and Bark Features
Leaves deciduous, papery, with ovate margins incised to lobulate, glaucous beneath. Fall color is yellow, considered by some to be insignificant. Bark is yellowish-brown, smooth.
Culture and Care
Adaptable to various soils, but sensitive to frosts. Zones 5b-8a. Susceptible to verticillium wilt.

Sensitive to late frosts. Name means having spiked/pointed leaves. This species is rare in cultivation.
