Native Range
Native to Manchuria, Korea, Russia.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are yellowish-green and hang in 3-4" long pendulous racemes. Fruits are winged samaras, 1.25" long, at a wide angle or nearly horizontal.
Leaf and Bark Features
Leaves opposite, simple, 3-5 lobed, 4-6" high and wide, pale to rich green above, paler underneath; margin finely and uniformly serrate; lateral lobes much smaller than terminal lobes. Leaves may turn golden-yellow in fall. Bark has a vertical white fissured pattern.
Culture and Care
Prefers morning sun or light shade in moist, well-drained soil. Nectria canker is a common problem.
