Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers in clusters of 3, terminating the short, 2-leaved shoots. Fruits are winged samaras, 1-1.25" long, held at a 120° angle. Nutlets are thick, pubescent with hairy fruit stalks, 0.63" length.
Leaf and Bark Features
Rich yellow to red fall color. Bark is weakly exfoliating, gold on young stems, mature bark is ash-brown, loose and vertically fissured.
Culture and Care
Prefers moist, acid, well-drained soil, keep moist and fertilized until established. No serious disease or insect problems.
Suggested Uses
Excellent small specimen tree, lovely foliage, exquisite bark. Good choice for the small garden.
