Acer x // Hybrid Maple ("straight species")
Tree. Grows to 20-30' tall and 15-20' wide. Yellowish-green flowers held on 3-4" pendulous racemes Fruits are samaras 1.75" long, held nearly horizontal. Green bark with pronounced white striations. Prefers partially shaded woods, well-drained moist, slightly acidic soil, exists as an under-story tree in it's native habitat. Hybrid of unknown origin, selected locally by Scott Beuerlein This selection has improved fall color and exceptional bark. Susceptible to typical maple diseases such as anthracnose, verticillium wilt, bacterial leaf spot, bleeding canker, forest tent caterpillar, maple leaf cutter, leafhopper, bladder-gall mite, boxelder bug, among others.
