Tree. Grows to 15-20' tall and 8-10' wide. Showy, white, 5-petaled flowers, slightly fragrant. Red to purple fruits in summer, edible, sweet, and used in jellies. Finely toothed leaves, medium to dark green, alternately arranged. Brilliant orange and red fall color. Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates high pH, salt, and wind. Resistant to mildew and rust but aphids and scales may be problematic.
