Native to Central China.
Leaf and Bark Features
Leaves have a coppery red color when new. Unblemished fresh green leaves even into the doldrums of our often dry late summers. Bark is gray, fissured and beautiful, beech-like.

Highly tolerant to dense understory shade. The specific epithet commemorates Dr. Augustine Henry (of Parthenocissus henryana) who was a collecting contemporary of Ernest Wilson in the area of Central and Western China near the turn of the century (1885-1900).
