Shrub. Grows to 2-3' tall and wide. Powder blue flowers in late summer, borne in small cymes from the axils of the uppermost leaves. Off-white, papery fruit remain after the flowers fade, can be attractive in winter. Simple leaves, arranged opposite, 1-2" long, 0.5-1.25" wide, dull blue-green above, silvery tomentose beneath. Slender, 4-sided stems are pubescent, grayish green, with flattened nodes. Prefers a loose, loamy soil and full sun.

Stems are slender, 4-sided, pubescent, grayish-green, with flattened nodes. Prefers a loose, loamy soil and full sun. Attractive to bees, butterflies and birds.
