Average mature size of 40-60' tall and wide. Growth rate of 12-24" or more per year.

China and Japan.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are small and not showy, March-early April. Fruits are small, dehiscent pods, 0.5-0.75", borne 2-4 together on a short stalk, ripe in October.
Leaf and Bark Features
Fall color varies from yellow to apricot, often a soft apricot-orange color develops. Bark is brown annd slightly shaggy on old trunks, reminiscent of shagbark hickory.
Culture and Care
Somewhat difficult to transplant, best chance in early spring. Soil should be rich, moist and well-drained. Adaptable to pH, but best fall color occurs on acid soils. Full sun. Provide additional water during hot, dry periods during establishment. No serious disease or insect problems; sun scald and bark splitting may occur.

The senescing (fall coloring) leaves give off a delightful spicy cinnamon/brown sugar odor, some liken the odor to cotton candy.
