Tree. Grows to 20-40' tall and wide. Medium growth rate. Medium longevity. Brush-like mass of creamy white flowers, 0.75" diameter, on a 3" long, pendulous peduncle. Drupe fruits, solitary, ovoid, 1.5" long, green with a purplish bloom. No appreciable fall color, leaves die off green or brown. Bark is orange and brown, scaly. Transplants balled and burlapped, into well drained, moist soil. Prefers light shade. Zones 6-7. No serious diseases. Native to China. A beautiful tree when in full-flower, but the flowering is often slow and inconsistent.
