  • Deutzia gracilis 'Nikko' // Nikko Slender Deutzia
    Shrub. Grows to 2' tall and 5' wide, almost appearing like a groundcover. Slow to medium growth rate. White flowers. Fruits are dehiscent brown capsules, not effective. Rich green foliage. Fall color is deep burgundy. Bark on older stems develops an exfoliating character. Transplants readily, usually container grown. Plant in well-drained soil, full sun to very light shade. Plants can appear ratty and unkempt if not pruned back occasionally after flowering. Zones 4-7. Basically problem-free plants, but can be susceptible to leafspots, aphids and leaf miner. Native to Japan. Makes a good mass, facer or shrub border.
