Average mature size of 2-4' tall and wide. Spreading habit. Fast growth rate.
Native Range
Newfoundland to Saskatchewan south Michigan and North Carolina.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are sulfur yellow 0.5" long, June-August, 2-3" diameter on current seasons growth. Fruits are 2-chambered, thin walled capsules, containing many seed.
Leaf and Bark Features
Leaves are copper colored when new. Purple fall color. Bark is brownish, stems rounded.
Culture and Care
Roots readily from cuttings. Withstands shade but best in sun. Zones 3-7. A tremendously tough plant that withstands cold and winds. Generally not troubled by insects or diseases.
