Average mature size of 6-8' tall and 6-15' wide, can grow to 15-30' tall. Slow growth rate.

Japan, 1870.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are creamy yellow to light orange, veined with red, 0.33-0.50" long, in May-June, in pendulous umbel-like racemes from previous years growth. Fruits are a dehiscent, 5-valved capsule, 0.75" long.
Leaf and Bark Features
Brilliant yellow to orange and red fall color. Bark is often reddish in youth becoming brown, glabrous. Young stems are 3-sided.
Culture and Care
Prefers acid soil, requires adequate soil moisture, in full sun or partial shade. Zones 4-7. No serious disease or insect problems.

Excellent for flower and fall color. Nice specimen, combines well with rhododendrons, lovely around patio.
