Fontanesia philliraeoides subsp. fortunei // Fortune Fontanesia
Shrub. Grows to 12' tall and 6' wide, growth rate of 3' per year. Greenish-white flowers occur in 1-2" panicles. Fruits are flat, oblong samaras with winged margins and notched apex, 0.4" long. Bark is bamboo-like. Tough to propagate. Native to China, Introduced 1945. Can grow in difficult sites, could be used in tough highway and urban sites.
