Fraxinus mandshurica 'Mancana' // Mancana Manchurian Ash
Tree. Rounded to oval growth habit, 40-50' tall and 20-25' wide. Basally rounded leaflets with very shallow, marginal teeth. Fruits are broad-rounded, 1-1.5" long. Somewhat susceptible to late spring frosts. Not as good as some other ashes as a landscape tree. Works in Zones 3-5. Habit is a dense, oval crown. Tolerates drought and excess water in the soil. Yellow fall color. Easy to transplant. Native to Japan and northeast China, but introduced by Morden Station, Canada. First cultivated in 1882. May be somewhat resistant to Emerald Ash Borer.
