Average mature size of 15-20' tall and wide. Slow to medium growth rate, possibly to 3' per year.
Native Range
China, Mongolia, and Japan.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are dioecious, male flowers yellow-brown to orange-yellow. Fruits in globose or oblong cones, irregularly globose.
Leaf and Bark Features
Bark is gray-brown, lightly ridged and furrowed, coming off in thin stripes.
Culture and Care
Prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun, pH adaptable. Susceptible to Phomopsis and Kabatina, otherwise a relatively trouble-free juniper.
