Native Range
Japan, China, Manchuria, and Korea.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are white (may be tinged pink or purple) turning yellow, fragrant, June-November, borne in peduncled pairs, usually a mass of white and yellow. Fruits are black berries, 0.25" diameter, ripening in August-October.
Leaf and Bark Features
Bark is reddish-brown to light brown, covered wth soft pubescence. The stems have an excavated pith.
