Average mature size of 30-40' tall and 15-20' wide. Slow to medium growth rate. Medium lifespan, 100 years.
Native Range
Ohio to Florida.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flowers are creamy white, 8-10" sometimes up to 14" across. Fragrant in June, flowers over a long period of time. Fruits are egg-shaped, rose colored, 3" long.
Leaf and Bark Features
Leaves extremely large 12-38". Bark is smooth, gray.
Culture and Care
Transplant balled/burlapped in full sun. Zones 5-8. Essentially free from disease and insect problems. Protect from strong winds due to large leaves.

Champion tree in Tight Hollow, Kentucky is 108'x42'.
Suggested Uses
Recommended for large areas such as parks.
