  • Magnolia stellata 'King Rose' // King Rose Star Magnolia
    Tree. Slow growing to 15-20' tall and 10-15' wide, avg 3-6' over 5-6 year period. Large spreading shrub of dense twiggy growth. Pink flowers, 5" across, 22 tepals. Fruits aggregate of follicles, 2" long, twisted, usually with only a few fertile carpels. Dark green leaves, often turning yellow to bronze in fall. Smooth, gray, bark. Prefers a peaty, organic-based soil; does quite well in heat of South; full sun for best flowering. Basically free of major diseases & pests. Native to Japan, introduced 1862.

  • Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star' // Royal Star Magnolia
    Tree. Flowers with pure white tepals, 3-4" diameter, fragrant. Fruits aggregate of follicles, 2" long, twisted, usually with only a few fertile carpels. Upright, densely branched shrub in youth, more rounded with age. Smooth, gray bark. Prefers a peaty, organic-based soil; does quite well in heat of South; full sun for best flowering. Basically trouble-free Native: Japan. Introduced 1862.
