Platanus x hispanica 'Bloodgood' // Bloodgood London Planetree
Tree. Grows to 70-100' tall and 65-80' wide. Medium growth rate, 1.5-2' per year. Ball-like flower clusters, 1" diameter, May-June, not showy, both sexes on tree. Tan-brown, 1" rounded, multiple fruit, ripening in October-December. Average longevity 39 years. Yellow-brown fall color. Bark is an exfoliating mix of cream, olive and light brown, with good winter color. Easily transplanted. Prefers deep, rich, moist, well-drained soil but will grow in almost anything. Greater resistance to anthracnose than the species. Commonly found in Europe, Canada and US. First record of tree in 1663. The parent plants are natively found along water courses. Impressive in landscape.
