Pyrus salicifolia
Mature Size, Growth, Longevity
Grows to 12-15'(25') tall and 10-12' wide, rounded-oval form with broadly weeping, pendulous branches. Pendulous branches can add winter interest to the landscape.
Native Range
Native to Southeastern Europe, western Asia.
Flower and Fruit Details
Pink flower buds open to creamy white flowers, 0.75" diameter, closely packed 6-8 in small rounded corymbs. Typical pear-shaped fruit, 1-1.25" long and wide.
Leaf and Bark Features
Leaves are a silver-gray shaded version of green. Bark is covered with a grayish white pubescence which falls away with age.
Culture and Care
Prefers medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions. Best in cool summer climates. Zone 4-7. Susceptible to Fireblight.
