Average mature size of 8-10' tall and 5-8' wide. Slow to moderate growth rate.
Flower and Fruit Details
Flower buds pink, opening white, in 2-3" clusters, fragrant, occurring in early Spring. Fruits are ellipsoidal-flattened drupes, 0.33" diameter, red turning to black in summer, July-August, usually sparsely produced and of insignificant ornamental importance.
Culture and Care
Prefers sun to partial shade, and moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils. Zones 5-8. Foliage resistant to bacterial leaf spot and powdery mildew; viburnums are relatively free of major problems.

Good heat tolerance.
Suggested Uses
Excellent choice for the shrub border, works well with broadleaf evergreens.

Shrub. A more compact selection only 7' tall and 7.5' wide. Dark red flower buds open to white petals with red-blotched reverse. Brilliant orange-red fall color. Resulted from a backcross of V. burkwoodii x V. carlesii, made in 1953.
