Ornamental Characteristics:
Flower - Double flower form with fluffy, peachy pink flowers borne in profusion, flowers later, generally with the leaves.
Fruit - Pome, 2-2.5" long and wide, yellowish green. Ripening in October; fruits are quite bitter but when cooked are used for preserves and jellies.

Fall Color - Nonexistent.
Bark - Brownish, often slightly pubescent. Contains thorns.
Other Features - Excellent for flower effect when fully realized.

Culture and Care:
Care Requirements - Performs well in dry situations; full sun or partial shade with best flowering in sun; renewal pruning by elimination the older branches or cutting the whole plant to within 6" of the ground; prune after flowering.
Native Habitat - China, cultivated in Japan. Introduced before 1800. Zone 4 to 8(9)
Diseases and Insects - More resistant to leaf blight than other cultivars. Aphids are prevalent on young stems and foliage
